European countries are looking to Norway as they scramble to find alternatives to Russian energy in response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
The oil-rich nation is on track to export record amounts of gas to Europe this year, but experts warn that production will likely drop significantly after 2030 unless a new giant discovery is made.
In May, Norway’s Petroleum & Energy Minister Terje Aasland told Upstream the country could increase exports to Europe to replace Russian gas and the following month the European Union and Norway announced they would be “strengthening energy co-operation”.
