These friendly furries have been in the system for more than 200 days and we want to give them more exposure and boost their chances at possible adoption. Every week we’ll shine a spotlight on a different friend with the idea of giving them a short, fun (entirely fictional) back story in the hope more people adopt these cute and wonderful creatures.
For our first-ever feature, we take a look at Brutus, a 10-year-old Chinese Shar Pei/Boxer mix. Good ol’ Bru here is a bit of a celebrity believe it or not. You may recognize him from his work on the film Entourage – the big-screen sequel to the HBO hit TV series – as the stand in for Salvatore “Turtle” Assante’s Rottweiler companion, Arnold. Having never set paw on an actually professional set, Brutus made his acting debut in the 2015 film. While his work on the comedy-drama was short lived, he made a strong impression on showrunner Doug Ellin for his professionalism and always being on cue. Going as far as to say, he “many times was the brightest light” out of the star-studded cast members.

Fred Duval/FilmMagicHis relationship with fellow canine-actor, Rocky “Arnold” Anderson, is well documented by E! News. In the 2019, three-day, hour-long True Hollywood special, Brutus talked about their “rocky” relationship during his one-year spell. Mentioning how the much “larger” and “aggressive” Rocky would take his Pup-Peroni Original Bacon Flavor Dog Treats for his own while he rehearsed with actor Adrian “Vince” Grenier. Brutus stated at the time that Rocky was always jealous of their relationship.
MySA reached out to Rocky and his representatives for comment but we’re sent straight to voicemail. Apparently he was out for his daily 2 p.m. walk on Hollywood Boulevard.
Due to his overly large ears, Brutus thought he wouldn’t make it Hollywood and often lacked the confidence to put himself out there. But with the help of his acting instructor back in 2015, he rose above the self doubt to make his pro debut on Entourage

He was brought into SAPA!’s care in August 2019 before leaving momentarily and coming right back seven months later. Since then, it’s been 331 days and counting for his second stint with SAPA! The famed Hollywood canine is currently in a foster home, receiving lots of love and care from one of SAPA!’s amazing foster volunteers.
