President Pedro Castillo will take the oath of the new ministerial cabinet on Friday, August 5, after the resignation of Prime Minister Aníbal Torres. This would be the fifth since he began his mandate, on July 28, 2021.
Among those called to assume the title of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) are the holder of the portfolio of Culture, Alexander Salasand the head of the Foreign Trade and Tourism sector, Robert Sanchez.

Ministers Aníbal Torres (PCM), Geiner Alvarado (Housing), José Luis Gavidia (Defense) arrived at the Government Palace on the day announced by President Pedro Castillo to take the oath of the new cabinet.
Former Production Minister Kurt Burneo was also seen. As recalled, Burneo was a member of the Peru Libre technical team in the 2021 General Elections.

The Minister of Culture, Alejandro Salas, announced to be the replacement of Aníbal Torres in the PCM, rejected the decision of the Congress of the Republic to deny permission to the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, to travel to Colombia. He reminded the opposition in Parliament that the only head of state who left the country and resigned via fax was Alberto Fujimori and assured that this will not be the path taken by the current president.

The spokesman for Renovación Popular, Jorge Montoya, referred to the swearing-in of the new ministerial cabinet announced by the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, for this Friday, August 5. The Republic President, Pedro Castillo, announced that he will take the oath of the new ministerial cabinet next Friday, August 5. To this end, the president invited the political parties to join his management and thus be able to form a “wide base cabinet” in order to deal with the political situation in which the country finds itself.
“I call on political parties, civil society and organizations to be part of a broad-based cabinet that works for Peru,” the head of state wrote on his Twitter account.
The cabinet must be renewed after falling into crisis due to the resignation of former Prime Minister Aníbal Torres, who remained in office for almost six months. According to Torres, his departure from the PCM responds to personal reasons. Through his social networks, he stated that from now on he will dedicate himself, among other things, to what he is most passionate about: legal research.

Who will be the new head of the PCM?
One of the names that sound with more force to replace the position that leaves Hannibal Torres is the current Minister of Culture, Alexander Salas.
The owner of the Mincul has defended President Pedro Castillo on several occasions and has tried to put cold cloths on political confrontations. He was even one of the ministers who denounced the insults by the congressmen to the head of state.
In this line, there is also the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Robert Sanchezwho has remained at the forefront of the sector since taking office on July 29, 2021.
In recent statements, Sánchez defended Castillo Terrones for the questioning before the investigations that he accumulates in the Public Ministry.
