The Public Ministry is requesting 41 years in prison for Pradenas Dürr. The sentence will be known on August 26 at 2:00 p.m.
This Saturday the Temuco Oral Criminal Court read the verdict against Martin Pradenas Durraccused of seven sexual crimes committed against six victims, including the case of the young university student with initials AB who took his own life in 2019.
For that last fact during the reading he was found guilty; also for all the others that the Prosecutor’s Office charged him with: four crimes of sexual abuse of a person over 14 years of age, one crime of sexual abuse of a person under 14 years of age and two crimes of rape.
The defense of the accused -headed by the private lawyer, Javier Jara- had recognized that it was a “complex” case, but they estimated that there was not enough evidence to incriminate him.
However, the judge dismissed that and held that there were no “invented stories or false accusations”nor “a conspiracy of the victims”.
The Prosecutor’s Office located the man as the author of four completed crimes of sexual abuse of a person over 14 years of age, a completed crime of sexual abuse of a person under 14 years of age and a crime of rape of a person over 14 years of age.

During the reading of the verdict, the Court explicitly applied a gender approach in the assessment of evidence, ruling out social stereotypes.
Regarding the case of AB, which had the greatest public connotation, the Temuco Oral Criminal Court said that his unfortunate death “marked the possibility that the rest of the other victims would tell about the other acts of sexual violence committed by Martín Pradenas.” Leaving behind, thus, an eventual “normalization” of what happened and that they thought they would not be believed.
