At the end of the night, the news became official that the person responsible for the communicator’s death was the retired Vice Admiral and former president of the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), Félix Alburquerque Comprés; who later appeared at the headquarters of the Attorney General’s Office, where, until the time of writing this article, he was under arrest.

Once the news of his surrender was made official and moments before he surrendered, Alburquerque Comprés granted an interview to the journalist Priena Almonte where he explained his version of what happened in the event that resulted in the death of the 45-year-old man.
The former president of the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), indicated that when he felt hungry and since the Rico Hot Dog food establishment was close to his house, he went there. Once there, Manuel Tavárez Duncan assaulted him, thinking that he was laughing at him because he had spilled ketchup on “his shirt or T-shirt”.

In the video that emerged minutes before the news broke that Félix Alburquerque Comprés had turned himself in to the authorities, he states that justice had to be faced while regretting the situation that also affects his children.

Who is Alburquerque Comprés?
Alburquerque Comprés, 59, assumed the presidency of the DNCD in 2019, after the resignation of Major General José Eugenio Matos de la Cruz. He was born in Sabana Grande de Boyá, Monte Plata, and graduated with a degree in Naval Sciences from the Naval School, with the rank of Alférez de Fragata Marina de Guerra and was a representative of the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic before the United Nations Organization. He was Vice Minister of Defense for Naval and Coastal Affairs, also Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, (1st Deputy Commander General ARD.), General Director of Military Security Puerto Multimodal Caucedo, among other positions.
