We talked about a lot of things and I visited her and the embassy staff at least once in Bangkok.”

“Before it closed last year, the Swedish Embassy in Cambodia took care of Finnish citizens’ affairs, so that is one reason I agreed to be the Honorary Consul. Another reason is that I know quite a lot of people in Cambodia and I’d like to help Finnish companies that are already in Cambodia or are looking for business opportunities in Cambodia.”

On being requested how Finnish residents residing in Cambodia may benefit from there being an Honorary Consulate in the nation, Järvinen replied, “Some people might need our assistance if they lose their passports or their visa expires. Some people might need a certificate before they can be issued a driving license. Some people might get married here.
