Havana, Aug 5 (RHC) Cuba and Dominica signed this Friday in Roseau, the capital of that Caribbean country, a Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation in agriculture and products of plant origin, in livestock and products of animal origin, in forestry and other areas of interest.
The document was signed by the Cuban ambassador to the sister nation, Ulises I. Arranz Fernández, and the Minister of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and Food Security of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Fidel Grant.
The diplomat stressed that the Memorandum is the result of the official visit made to Cuba by the Dominican Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, last April, fulfilling an invitation from the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Arranz Fernández alluded to the Cuban collaboration in Dominica in agricultural, forestry and fishing matters, which began in 2006, and was present in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017, participating in recovery actions after the devastating passage of Hurricane Maria.
He affirmed that despite the cruel and inhuman economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States government on his country, they will never be able to block the will of the Government and people of Cuba to continue advancing on the path of cooperation and friendship with the Government and people of Dominica.
Ricky Brumant, Director of Agriculture for Dominica, said that, like an older brother, Cuba has supported his country in all spheres of life, particularly health, education and agriculture.
Meanwhile, Grant referred to his visit to Cuba last April, as part of the delegation led by Skerrit, and to the good results of the meeting held with his Cuban counterpart, Ydael Pérez Brito, and several officials from that Ministry.
He indicated that on that occasion they were able to identify new spheres of cooperation that appear in the Memorandum signed this Friday, and asked that the Cuban Minister of Agriculture be thanked for the quick response to the request of the Government of Dominica. (Source: ACN)
