Double joy for the ‘9’ of the Peruvian National Team. In his official debut with Cagliari, facing Perugia this Friday at the Arena Sardinia for the first round of the 2022-2023 Italian Cup, Gianluca Lapadula scored a goal and contributed to the classification of his cast to the next stage of the competition.
The season started for the Rossoblù team measuring forces with a perugia who will also be his rival in Serie B. Coach Fabio Liverani decided to have Gianluca Lapadulapenultimate and main reinforcement for the campaign, although the ‘9’ went to the bench of substitutes.
The Italian-Peruvian’s performance in the friendly against Leeds United, in which he also scored, left Liverani with good feelings, who already worked with him in Lecce. His presence on the field was expected and so it happened when he was chosen to enter over 60′.
By then the match was tied at a point. Cagliari took the lead with a goal from Giorgio Altare (2′), but Perugia equalized through Federico Melchorri (32′). The homeowners were in control of the game, albeit with the score level.
Gianluca Lapadula entered for Di Pardo and had no luck in one of his first actions. He made a pass to attack down the middle, but it was intercepted and Perugia undertook the counterattack that gave him a chance to come back with Di Serio (67′).
The ‘Bambino’ was on the field and represented danger for the rivals, but it was the Angolan Zito Luvumbo who had the key to the draw. He overflowed by band, being shot down inside the area. The VAR reviewed and confirmed the referee’s charge with the penalty, despite the visitors’ claims for a previous foul.
Gianluca Lapadula took the ball and shot across. At 80 ‘the match was even, but Nicolás Viola sentenced when he took a free kick for 3-2 and Cagliari’s classification to the next round.

After falling in the last 16 in the previous campaign, Cagliari awaits to be the protagonist in this edition. His performance in recent campaigns with Benevento pushed the club to commit to signing him.
Cagliari will measure forces with Perugia, a cast that is also in Serie B, and it will be in this match where Gianluca Lapadula will officially debut. The ‘Bambino’ left a pleasant impression after scoring in the last friendly against Leeds United.
