The first measures announced Serge Massa received the endorsement of the backbone of the ruling party, which makes up Kirchnerism and the Peronism of governors and trade unionists, but caused a strong political noise in the on the left of the coalition, whose referents are discussing these days inside their parties, some of them minor but symbolic for the ideological framework of the Front of All (FdT)if they will continue in an alliance whose economic direction they consider to be within the classical adjustment model.
The one who opened the gate of internal catharsis was John Grabois, the leader of the Great Fatherland Front who threatened to withdraw his three deputies from the ruling bloc in the lower house. then added Claudia Lozano, one of the directors of Banco Nación who urgently gathered his Popular Unity troop. The orthodox turn applied by Massa also divided waters in the “Soberanxs” group, between the former minister Beloved Boudou who supported him and the former ambassador Alicia Castro that does not tolerate the condemnation of massismo to the Venezuelan regime.
In this scenario, the deputy Itai Hagman emphasized, in dialogue with THE NATION, that it is not the will of Patria Grande to provoke a rupture. “There was a redesign of the Government, a refoundation, with a stability plan that included measures for different sectors, formal workers, retirees, businessmen, exporters. But there was not a single announcement for those living in poverty”, reproached Hagman who, together with his peers Natalia Zaracho and Federico Fagioli, warned that they could disassociate themselves from the ruling party.
“We do not think about leaving the Front of All, but if there is no gesture (from the Government) we will have to seek a space where we can express ourselves with greater autonomy and create our own block. If it is within an interbloc, it will also depend on the will of the rest of the deputies of the Frente de Todos and of Germán (Martínez), president of the bloc, ”said Hagman in his contact with this newspaper.
The bewilderment of the FdT’s left, which also includes the communist party Yet the Combative Class Current of Maoist tradition, it takes place in the midst of a new metamorphosis of Peronism, this time in full function of government. Although Peronist sources link the “fiscal order” that Massa proclaims with non-right-wing experiences in the region, such as those of the wide front Uruguayan, the Concertation Chilean and the PT Brazil, the course outlined by the new minister impacts among the “progressive allies” of the ruling party.
However, this discomfort of the leftist bloc of the coalition does not seem to worry the main actors of Peronism, starting with the “triumvirate” that make up Alberto Fernandez, Cristina Kirchner and Massa himself. Nor does he worry the provincial governors, the suburban mayors or the CGT leaders, who feel more comfortable within the parameters of the traditional PJ. To such an extent that some leaders think that, in 2023, Peronism should return to its historical format.
In any case, there are allied forces that have already accompanied Peronism/Kirchnerism for several elections, such as the big front headed by the mayor of Ensenada, Mario Secco; and the Solidarity Party of the deputy Carlos Heller. Those are precisely the spaces that are not questioning their belonging to the Frente de Todos, nor is the Revolutionary Communist Partywhose piquetero arm is the CCC. “We are going to fight inside”affirmed today the deputy Juan Carlos Alderete.
“If the two national deputies (from the CCC), we would leave Cambiemos as the first minority,” said Alderete, according to a cable from the Noticias Argentinas agency. Along the same lines, he assured that the Frente de Todos “continues to be a valid tool to conquer rights”, although he warned that in Sunday’s march, for San Cayetanothey will claim “Urgent measures that go in the way of guaranteeing the roof, land and work program that we social organizations have been demanding”.
The “Chinese”, as the Peronists nickname their allies in the RCP, have shared a history with the PJ since the days of Isabel Peron in the 1970s, the failed presidential candidacy of Italo Argentino Luder in the 1980s and the government of Carlos Menem in the 90s. But they ask for some proof of love to maintain their historical fidelity: “We have to change tactics and be tougher, freeze prices, enforce the Gondolas Law. And it is necessary to apply the Supply Law”listed Alderete, an old partner of Luis D’Elia (FTV-Miles).
On the other hand, those who do not seem determined to “fight from the inside” are the referents of the Communist Party. “It is probable that at the national level the PC will leave the Front of Allwhich was never a political front and only remained an electoral alliance”, warned Sonia López, president of the party in Corrientes and member of the central committeein statements made by radio AM 750. Among the newcomers to the Pan-Peronist coalition, Grabois’ Great Fatherland Front and Lozano’s Popular Unity are also critical of the new economic direction.
“The definitions adopted by the new super minister continue to distance the government management from the electoral commitments that defined the triumph of the Front of All in 2019”maintained after an emergency assembly the Popular Unit of Lozano, whose continuity in the board of directors of Banco Nación now depends on the new president, Silvina Batakis. The argument of economic growth with social inclusion put forward by Massa did not seem to satisfy the strength of the leader historically linked to the CTA.
The presence of economists like Daniel Marx in the cabinet of the minister empowered by Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner did not go down well among the leaders who report to the left wing of the Frente de Todos. But that did not seem a problem for the former deputy Fernanda Vallejoswhich was very critical of the management of Martín Guzmán, nor for Beloved Boudouone of his companions in the Sovereigns groupwhich organically adopted a position of rejecting the agreement with the IMF.
The spaces closest to Kirchnerism – although not necessarily participants in La Cámpora or the Patria Institute – do not question their continuity in the Frente de Todos either. Among them are New Encounter, chaired by Martín Sabbatella; Y south project, that Fernando “Pino” Solanas created and led until his death. “Those who are screaming are the new ones, who arrived in 2015,” said a Peronist source. In Kirchnerism they corroborated it: “You don’t judge, you accompany”defined a camporista with an official office.
