After the controversy generated after the decision of the national government to declare the Lanín volcano a “Mapuche sacred site”, the National Parks Administration (APN) reversed the regulations and will convene a participatory dialogue table in the coming days with the province of Neuquén and the native communities, and “will work together in a new (resolution) that contemplates the federal spirit”.
“The National Parks Administration expresses the intention to continue with the joint management and participatory processes, in a federal manner, with all the jurisdictions in which a national park is located,” says the statement to which it agreed. Infobae.
Resolution 484 of last August 3 declared Lanín a “Mapuche sacred site” which generated a new source of conflict between the national government and the provincial administration in charge of Omar Gutiérrez, who after hearing the news went to the crossroads and warned that It was an “illegal act”.
Even the state prosecutor of the province, Raúl Gaitán, considered that the measure was dictated “by an incompetent body” and represented “a subjugation of the national authorities”.
After both Governor Gutiérrez and Attorney General Gaitán announced that the legal teams were already working to move forward with the prosecution of the incident and seek the annulment of the rule, National Parks issued the statement backing down on the resolution and summoned the dialogue table.
“It is important maintain together with the province of Neuquén the decision-making processes that involve aspects of said protected area, taking into account that for decades the province has maintained a respectful and harmonious relationship with the native communities”, concludes the APN statement, an area chaired by Lautaro Eduardo Erratchu.
“an imbecility”
The decision of the national government through the APN aroused conflicting opinions among opposition leaders, who expressed in recent hours their strong rejection of the regulations and the government of Alberto Fernández.
Miguel Angel Picketto, former national senator for Together for Change (JxC), turned his annoyance on Twitter and considered that the National Parks decree threatens “the sovereignty” of a recognized tourist spot in Argentina. “Strong repudiation of the National Parks decision to declare the Lanín Volcano a sacred Mapuche site. Once again, sovereignty is affected in a paradisiacal and touristic place in our country. An imbecility of this government. Soon all of Patagonia will be Mapuche”, says the tweet of the current auditor general of the Nation.
Along the same lines, the national deputy Maximilian Ferraro. “The Lanín volcano is a natural wonder, the heritage of all Argentines, not just a few. The National Parks decision undermines national sovereignty and sets a dangerous precedent. NO to illegitimate tolls and illegal taking and clearing in Patagonia“, published the president of the ARI Civic Coalition in the social network of the little bird.
Today, the national deputy Hernan Lombardi joined this position and reported that his bloc presented a project in the Lower House to promote the immediate repeal of the resolution promulgated by the APN. “The government declared the Lanín volcano a sacred Mapuche site. It’s absolute nonsense, Resolution 484 of National Parks is openly unconstitutional and lacks legal logic. Today we present a project in Deputies for its immediate repeal, ”he wrote on his Twitter account, along with two images of the National Parks statement.
In a similar way he proceeded Victoria Villarruel, national legislator for La Libertad Avanza. Through the presentation to the Lower House of a draft resolution, which also has the support of the deputies Javier Milei, Francisco Sánchez, Alberto Asseff, Carlos Zapata and Dina Rezinovskyurge President Fernández to provide explanations on a series of points to understand the disposition of National Parks regarding the Lanín volcano. “I consider it especially necessary to pay attention to these unpatriotic acts and highlight the manifest gravity that exists as the Argentine State itself is the one that contributes mainly to the fragmentation of our Nation”underlines the note signed by Villarruel.
