The forest fire that started last Thursday in the parish of Cures, in the A Coruña municipality of Boiro, continues its advance and has already burned 2,000 hectares of Barbanza, as it has also affected the towns of A Pobra do Caramiñal and Ribeira. In addition, according to the latest data offered by the Consellería do Medio Rural collected until 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, the land burned by the fire in the Pontevedra town of Ponte Caldelas also increases, where the fire declared in Xustáns has already destroyed 350 hectares.

In both fires, the Xunta maintains ‘Situation 2’ active due to the proximity of the flames to the houses. In Boiro, the alert continues in the town of Piñeiro, while in Ponte Caldelas, this situation had been activated by the proximity of the fire to the town of A Canicouva, in the municipality of Pontevedra.

Likewise, the 700 people who had been evicted in Ribeira, including those from a campsite, have already been able to return to collect their belongings and their homes, according to city council sources consulted by Europa Press.

Verín fire stabilized

On the other hand, the Xunta has considered stabilized at 4:22 p.m. this Saturday the fire that started last Wednesday in the Ourense town of Verín, which, according to the latest estimates, has burned some 600 hectares.

Also in the province of Ourense, the one declared in the parish of O Pereiro, which has so far burned about 150 hectares, remains under control.

Caldas de Reis, Arbo and Maceda

In addition, the fire declared in the parish of Saiar, in the municipality of Caldas de Reis, and which also affects Vilagarcía de Arousa, continues without advancing, with 450 hectares burned, according to the latest estimates. The regional administration has assured that “it is evolving favorably”.

In Arbo, the fires declared this week remain under control. Specifically, the Xunta has considered the one in the Mourentán parish controlled at 11:00 p.m. this Friday, with an affected area of ​​400 hectares. Meanwhile, the one from Barcela, which entered from Portugal, has burned some 82 hectares.

This Friday, the ministry declared the fires in Maceda (Ourense) -120.55 hectares burned– and Ponteareas (Pontevedra) -15.6 hectares burned– extinguished.

In total, the forest fires of this last week in Galicia have already burned more than 4,000 hectares.
