During a popular activity on the occasion of the summer, this Friday at Parque 13 de Marzo in Havana, the national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, called on the Cuban CDR members to support the new Family Code with their vote in the popular referendum on September 25.
“The almanac of the Revolution has the capacity to mobilize us around the infinity of heroic milestones experienced throughout these 63 years. August 5 is the date that we remember today, more than anything, for the example of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro in defending citizen tranquility in our streets, together with the people of the capital and Cuba.
Maintaining that unity that gave origin and mission to the existence of our Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) currently has multiple other reasons to mobilize, ranging from overcome the current energy and economic difficulties, to demand the cessation of the blockade and confront the attempts to subvert the order and peace that we want for our people.
Cuban families, articulated in neighborhoods and communities, also have before them another transcendental call: to support with their vote, in the popular referendum on September 25, the Law that grants all our homes securities and guarantees never seen before: the Family Code.
Numerous legal, social and ethical arguments have been offered to our population about the relevance of this new Code.
The most important reason for us to say YES is that it ensures more social justice and equality of rights, duties and opportunities.
‘The Code of love and affection’ has been called, and with good reason, because that is the compass that guides all the alternatives and rights that this Law recognizes for all families without distinction, in another expression of that same unity in diversity that the CDRs have always defended, inside and outside Cuban homes.
Grandmothers and grandfathers, infants, adolescents and young people, women and men, mothers and fathers, practically all the realities that our families experience have been taken into account in this Code that we built collectively, with science and popular wisdom, with the participation and transparency, without haste and without pause.
With the YES of each CDR member to the Family Code, we will then add another victory for Cuba and our largest mass organizationwhich will be as forceful and resounding as that unity to which we are always called to fight, on a day like today, with the example of Fidel, Raúl, Vilma, and all the strength, sensitivity and intelligence of our generous and just people”, communicated the also member of the Council of State, on behalf of the national secretariat of the CDRs.
At the call of the organization’s national coordinator, the people present in the Parque 13 de Marzo in the Cuban capital responded with cheers to the Revolution and Fidel, and enjoyed the recreational proposals offered there for the summer day and in greeting to the day of tribute to the Commander in Chief.
