One of thes engines of a Viva Aerobús plane ended up engulfed in flames… mid-flight.
The harrowing moment was captured by passengers of the aircraft with registration XA-VAJ who was traveling from Guadalajara to Los Angeles, United States.
The events occurred on the night of August 23, shortly after aircraft VB518 began the flight to its destination. According to the airline, “there was a failure related to engine number two, which caused sparks to come out due to metal friction.”
Given the facts, the crew of Viva Aerobus returned to Guadalajara International Airport. During the incident there were no injuries.
“Control of the aircraft was maintained at all times in accordance with the procedures established by the manufacturer, which are designed to continue safe operation under these conditions. Additionally, the crew provided timely and professional attention to passengers who required it,” the company detailed in a statement.
The affected passengers, he reported, were accommodated in a hotel, in order to resume their trip today, August 24.
