A teenage footballer, he was misdiagnosed by health personnel when they told him that he only suffered from prolonged Covid-19 symptoms, however, it was discovered that the athlete had a brain tumor.
Kane Allcock, 15, was suffering from persistent headaches, after being confirmed as a case of Covid-19 on New Year’s Eve 2021. Due to his ongoing headaches, tests were carried out on him, which apparently did not detect any problem and doctors wrongly assumed she had migraines caused by prolonged covid.
Later, however, Kane, who plays for the Crewe Alexandra youth team, began to suffer. more severe headacheswas nauseous and struggled to walk due to dizziness.
Kane went back to the hospital
Kane returned to medical attention, at the hospital he suffered a seizure and was sent for an MRI which revealed he had acute hydrocephalus, plus a large brain tumor for which he was transferred by ambulance to the Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool.
The footballer’s mother said, “We were still in the car and it was the longest 50 minutes of our lives. When we got there, we barely spent any time with Kane before they asked us to sign release forms. consent for your surgery, and he was rushed into surgery for an operation to treat the hydrocephalus.”
Kane, was released after four days, however the wound leaked and he and his parents had to travel back to Alder Hey, where they added a couple of extra stitches, but the wound continued to leak, so it was decided what Kane needed go back to surgery.
“It didn’t end there, because they also discovered that their hydrocephalus had worsened and they had to put in a spinal drain to fix it. This meant lying flat for five days. The drain was removed on May 1 and Kane was discharged home the following day,” according to Kane’s mother.
