The Minsal will meet with the Association of Isapres, within the framework of the project that intends to become a Single Health Fund in the country. According to the portfolio manager, María Begoña Yarza, it will be sought that the industry “has the elements to move smoothly” towards this new model.
The Minister of Health, María Begoña Yarza, announced a work table with the Association of Isapres to address the Government’s project to transition to a Single Health Fund.
“This week we had a long, very honest meeting, where the ministry and the isapres organization agreed to set up a work table”said after participating in an activity for the World Breastfeeding Week.
It should be remembered that the body that groups the isapres assured that, given the impossibility of adjusting the rates, the industry could end up collapsing.
“We believe that we can facilitate conversations, understand some short-term elements in the relationship we have with private health organizations”Yarza indicated about the objectives of this work table.
Work table so that Isapres can “transit calmly”
However, he acknowledged that “The most relevant thing is the second point, which is how we agree on a route, step by step, well thought out, in what is so important for our government program, which is the generation of the Single Health Fund”.
At this point, the Secretary of State recalled that President Boric promised to come up with this project by the end of 2022. “We want to arrive with a clearer, more sustained conversation about what is the path of health insurance in Chile, because it is clear to everyone that we are not against health insurance”said.
Along the same lines, he added that this model of complementary insurance “exists in many countries that are an example for us in terms of universal health systems,” so it is a path that they want to discuss together with the isapres.
Finally, he stated that they want to give certainty to this industry so that it “has the elements to calmly transition to this Single Health Fund”.
