Santander and BBVA accelerate customer acquisition in all of their markets and close the first semester with a total of 242 million individuals and companiesof which 156.9 million are concentrated in the bank chaired by Ana Botín and the remaining 85.1 million in the bank led by Carlos Torres.
From the end of 2021the two financial entities have added 6.9 million userswhich represents an increase of close to 3%, as published Expansion.
Specifically, Santander has captured four million customers between January and June (+2.6%) and BBVA a total of three million (+3.5%).
Santander has 13.9 million customers in Spain, with 400,000 new users in the last semester; while BBVA has captured 490,000 customers between January and June and adds 10 million in the national market.
«The customer base continues to grow and the number of customers who are loyal to the bank also. This is the element on which the very good results of the first semester are configured”, assured the CEO of Santander, Jose Antonio Alvarezduring the presentation of the entity’s accounts.
For its part, Onur GençCEO of BBVA, underlined during the presentation of the bank’s first half results that digitization “is accelerating the acquisition of new customers5.3 million (gross) in the first half of the year, twice as much as just four years ago.
