KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is making an attempt to get airline corporations from Singapore to increase their flights to Sandakan and Tawau districts.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin mentioned direct flights from Singapore to those two districts would increase tourism and different financial relations between them and the city-state sooner or later.
“The availability of direct flights to and from these places would enable tourists to easily visit places like Sipadan Island, Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and more,” he mentioned at a gathering with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for National Development and Foreign Affairs, Sim Ann, in Singapore on Thursday.
Jafry mentioned he would current the proposal to a number of airline corporations as quickly as doable.
He mentioned aside from guests from Singapore, travellers from different international locations who use the Singapore route as transit may take the chance to make a cease in Sabah.
“Changi Airport is one of Asia’s main flying destinations,” he added.
On different issues, Jaffry mentioned the ministry, by the Sabah Tourism Board, can also be actively participating in ‘business to business’ and ‘business to customer’ initiatives to usher in more guests.
