Havana, Aug 7 (RHC) The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, thanked this Sunday for the shows of solidarity and messages of support sent by Cubans residing abroad, in the face of the fire that has been taking place since last Friday at the Base of Supertankers from the western province of Matanzas.
In his account on the social network Twitter, the foreign minister wrote: “Once again, in situations of pain and anguish, our compatriots living abroad send messages of support and reiterate their willingness to help in whatever is necessary. They comfort so many expressions of love and solidarity. To all, the deepest gratitude”.
During the day, the Hondura-Cuba Friendship Association joined in supporting the people of the largest island of the Antilles in the face of the tragic events, and after lamenting the human losses and other effects, called for joining a Great Campaign of Solidarity with the Caribbean nation.
For its part, the ‘Bridges of Love’ movement, led by Cuban-American professor Carlos Lazo, in the United States, launched a call to which the CodePink organization joined, stating: “We are not going to wait another minute! ! We are going to help the Cuban people, now!”
Meanwhile, the Interfaith Foundation for Community Organization IFCO-Pastors for Peace also asked all friends to donate items of immediate need.
This pronouncement is aimed at obtaining means to treat burn victims, such as gauze, Vaseline, wound cleaner, surgical gloves and wooden applicators, as well as other supplies and medications.
Also today, Iran sent a message of solidarity to Cuba, through the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Kanani, who expressed his condolences to the people and Government of Cuba for the fatal victims of the incident, and lamented the injuries of a significant number of citizens.

From the National Assembly of Gambia, the parliamentary group issued a statement by its members expressing solidarity with the Cuban population in the face of this tragic event.
In the letter, sent to the embassy of the largest island of the Antilles in that West African nation, and signed by the president of the aforementioned legislative committee, Madi MK Ceesay, regret is expressed for the tragedy.
Other expressions of solidarity were also expressed by the Foreign Minister of Honduras, Enrique Reina, and the Foreign Ministry of Ecuador, the Meritorious Fire Department of Panama, activists from the British group Rock Around the Blockade and Cubans living in the United Kingdom.
