Solidarity Brigade with Cuba

Havana, Aug 6 (RHC) Members of the 27th Latin American and Caribbean Brigade for Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba made a donation of medical supplies to the Diez de Octubre Clinical-Surgical Teaching Hospital, in this capital.

The friends of the Caribbean island expressed during the award ceremony that the gloves, syringes, medicines and other materials are the result of the support of different solidarity groups from the participating countries.

The group was impressed by the work of Cuban medicine and praised the fact that, despite the US blockade, Cuban specialists achieve and maintain health for the people.

Dr. Jorge Alberto Miranda, director of the medical institution, thanked the members of the Brigade from Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Bolivia, Chile and Venezuela for the gesture.

He reaffirmed that the US blockade against Cuba limits access to essential supplies and equipment for patient care.

Thanks to the solidarity and unity of the peoples, the Hospital will soon have a bronchoscope to diagnose lung disease and an echocardiograph with which they can obtain a moving image of the heart, Miranda stressed.

Meanwhile, Lilia María Zamora, director of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), highlighted the efforts of the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Solidarity Network in the search for alternatives to break the blockade that affects the people Cuban more than 60 years ago.
