Alejandra Arriaza will be the first woman to take over as director of the National Customs Service, after being appointed by President Gabriel Boric. The industrial engineer was appointed through the Senior Public Management System, after 135 applications were received.
President Gabriel Boric appointed Alejandra Arriaza as the new director of the National Customs Service.
The industrial engineer was appointed from a list proposed by the Senior Public Management Council, being the first woman to hold the position in the history of the institution.
Arriaza studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and has a master’s degree in Public Management from the University Academy of Christian Humanism.
He held different positions in the National Customs Service, such as Head of the Department of Studies, Technical Deputy Director and Metropolitan Regional Director.
From December 2018 until now, he worked as Metropolitan Regional Director of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca)a position he also accessed through the Senior Public Management System.
It is worth mentioning that 135 applications were received and on July 19, the list of finalist candidates was sent to the corresponding authority to make the appointment.
