Police seize £132,000 Audi supercar speeding in Birmingham with no insurance – Up Jobs News

The driver was caught racing around Hall Green in the early hours this morning (Monday, August 8)

An Audi R8 driver had their £132,000 supercar seized by police after being caught racing around a city in the early hours without a license or insurance.

The luxury 200mph convertible was heard driving residents around the bend as it sped through the streets of Hall Green, Birmingham today (Monday, August 8).

Traffic police pulled over the motorist and found they were driving without a licence or insurance and the vehicle was already subject of a Section 59 warning. These powers allow officers to seize and remove cars, which are being driven inconsiderately or carelessly and causing alarm, distress or annoyance.

Police seized an Audi R8 – worth around £130k – after it was heard ‘racing around’ Hall Green

West Midlands Police said the flash motor was stopped on Stratford Road before being taken away on the back of a tow truck and the driver now faces prosecution. The force’s traffic unit wrote on Twitter: “Some of you may have heard this Audi R8 racing around Hall Green in the early hours of this morning.

“We did and when we stopped it it turned out the driver didn’t have a licence or insurance and the car already had a S.59 warning on it. It was seized and the driver will be prosecuted.”

The 533bhp vehicle can race from 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of almost 200mph. Social media users had little sympathy for the driver, with one person commenting: “These morons have been terrorising our neighbourhoods for too long now.”

Another added: “Too many vehicles are heard racing around #hallgreen #Yardley #acocksgreen #tyseley area. Unfortunately, i believe the local stations aren’t big enough on their own to carry out random speed checks. Hopefully, other departments could help assist with speed checks on main roads.”

A third wrote “Good. Now crush it and make the owner watch” while another said: “An idiot in an Audi, now there’s a surprise.”
