NY McDonald's Worker Shot to Death by French Fries – NBC New York – Up Jobs News

NEW YORK – A 23-year-old McDonald’s worker who was shot after an alleged dispute over cold fries lost the battle for his life, police said Friday as they declared his case a homicide investigation.

Police identified the victim as Matthew Webb of Queens. He had been shot in the neck and he was taken to a hospital in critical condition after Monday’s shooting. Police say he died on Wednesday.

That same day a second person, an 18-year-old woman, was arrested in the case. Camellia Dunlap, of Nostrand Avenue, is charged with criminal weapons possession and possession of a loaded firearm in the Monday night shooting outside the restaurant in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Cops allege the gunman passed the firearm to her after shooting Webb.

The suspected gunman, 20-year-old Michael Morgan, has been charged with attempted murder and weapons possession. His relationship with Dunlap was not immediately clear. It was unclear if he or Dunlap had attorneys or if enhanced charges would be filed against one or both.

According to a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the case, Dunlap allegedly got into an argument with the 23-year-old McDonald’s worker over the temperature of his fries. He supposedly thought they were too cold.

The fight spilled out onto the street and that’s when police said the woman called another man, possibly Morgan. Shortly after, shots were fired, leading to a bloody scene on the sidewalk. Webb was shot in the neck.

McDonald’s issued a statement earlier this week condemning the violence.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and employees are paramount to our organization, and violence has no place in or near our restaurants,” said Roy Iraci, McDonald’s restaurant owner and operator. “We are praying for a speedy recovery and the health of our member and will cooperate with authorities as their investigation progresses.”

An investigation is ongoing.
