Nigeria and Germany have held a maiden symposium to foster their cooperation within the discipline of green hydrogen (H2) instead energy.

At the symposium yesterday in Abuja organized by the German worldwide cooperation company, GIZ, via the German-Nigerian Hydrogen Office, the Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, lauded the nations’ particularly on renewable energy.
He mentioned: “Nigeria is eager on exploring the probabilities that the nascent (newly born) hydrogen economic system might create for our energy transition and we’re very concerned about establishing a fruitful dialogue with Germany.
The Director General for Climate Diplomacy, Economic Affairs and Technology, Federal Foreign Office, Germany, Oliver Rentscheler mentioned: “The new chapter in our partnership will not only enhance the dialogue on Green Hydrogen, but will also intensify the economic relations and dialogue on the expansion of renewable energies between the countries.”
The Country Director, GIZ Nigeria and ECOWAS Ms Ina Homers highlighted the goals of the mission as she mentioned: “We are delighted to welcome the first public event of hydrogen office which aims to support Nigeria in exploring the potentials of green hydrogen and consequently foster the sustainable transformation of the country’s industry and economy.”
Head of the German-Nigerian Hydrogen Office, Ms Gina Lagunes mentioned Nigeria as a standard fossil gas exporting nation with present oil and fuel infrastructure and capability can leverage on the brand new economic system to transition in direction of sustainable energy.
