Manuel Tames, a municipality distinguished among the national avant-garde for the operation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), will host the provincial act in Guantanamo for the creation of the women’s organization, on August 23.
Alídice Gené Sierra, general secretary of the FMC in Guantánamo, said that the province designed a program to celebrate the event, and among the activities that stand out are productive work, cleaning and beautification days in the communities, as well as educational actions to reduce levels of infestation by Aedes aegypti.
The commemorative day includes inter-generational dialogues with young people who complete the Women’s Voluntary Military Service in the Antonio Maceo Order Border Brigade, and peasant women from the local FMC-ANAP brigades, as well as the Vilma entre nosotras colloquium, and recreational and acknowledgments in blocks and delegations.
On the 20th, in a solemn act at the Mausoleum of La Confianza, 22 federated women will be recognized with the August 23 Distinction, while other companions will receive the orders Mariana Grajales and Ana Betancourt, all with notable daily contributions to the work of the FMC.
As part of the initiatives to celebrate the 62 years of the women’s organization, a basket will be delivered to the first woman from Guantanamo to give birth on August 23, and meetings will be held with creative and innovative women, especially those who stand out in business entrepreneurship. .
In the easternmost province of Cuba there are 195,000 women integrated into the ranks of the Federation of Cuban Women, who in turn constitute around half of the territory’s labor force, with greater representation in the Health, Education and Justice.
