New cars in Colombia have new rules for tires, brakes and belts – Up Jobs News

Six new requirements are very important for the vehicles that will begin to be marketed in the different showcases in Colombia. This was ratified by the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV), which will be in charge of verifying that everything begins to comply.

The Ministry of Transportation issued the resolutions for vehicles arriving in Colombia within 12 months. The function of this will be to improve safety for people inside cars.

Part of this incorporation, says El Espectador, is to incorporate the regulations that are in the United Nations Agreement of 1958, to which Colombia wants to join. In fact, in April a bill was filed in Congress that is awaiting a second debate in the plenary session of the Senate.

New cars in Colombia: what are the new rules

One of the changes explained by the Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco, It is in the windows that the vehicles bring. While there are many people who use security filmsthe idea is that “in the event of an accident, they do not expel fragments that could seriously injure the passengers of the vehicle”.

Seat belts will also be eyed because, says the minister, they must have “greater resistance and grip, which respond to the function of protecting passengers in the event of a crash. The requirement is that anchors must be incorporated that allow the correct installation of seats for the transport of children, among others”.

For the tires, he adds, there should be a transition in which the cars use tires, materials and more characteristics according to the topography and climate of Colombia.

From the ANSV they also made reference to the changes. Luis Lota, its director, pointed out that the vehicles must also incorporate “advanced braking systems such as electronic stability control and autonomous emergency brakingwhich is activated in the event of an imminent collision with another vehicle or a run over, and stops the vehicle or reduces its speed to avoid serious consequences”.

The regulation is not only for vehicles, it also applies to roads. The Agency official explained that there will be changes in the reflective tapes and “increase the visibility of vehicles in low light or adverse weather conditions, more clearly identify stopped vehicles, vehicles entering the road or vehicles traveling at low speeds.”

This will only apply to new cars that arrive in the country and Lota explained that there will be a transition period between 12 and 60 months “depending on the type of element so that they are increasingly more affordable”. “Issues such as containment elements must be in 12 months, the tires start within 12 months and depending on the complexity they will be given more time,” he added in a video published by City TV.
