A few hours before his investiture ceremony as President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro announced the appointment of Nestor Osuna as Justice minister.
At the moment, they are waiting to find out who will be their ministers of Commerce, Industry and Tourism; Information and Communication Technologies (ICT); Transportation, and Science, Technology and Innovation.
“The judicial independence, the fight against corruption and citizen access to the judicial system They will be pillars of a justice reform”, the president-elect wrote about Osuna.

In addition, the president-elect stressed that Osuna is Lawyer from the Externado University and went magistrate of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. He has also been director of the Department of Constitutional Law of the same university, and associate judge of the Constitutional Court, among other positions.
According to this institution, Osuna has also been visiting professor from several universities, both national and foreign, on issues of Constitutional Law. Likewise, He is a Doctor of Law, with thesis cum laude Y extraordinary doctorate award at the University of Salamanca, Spain, 1997.
As a magistrate of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, he was part of the Disciplinary Jurisdictional Chamber between January 2014 and June 2015. He also served as associate judge of the Constitutional Court between 2005 and 2008, and stood out as a member of the Ibero-American Institute of Constitutional Lawsince February 2002.

For his part, the appointed Minister of Justice thanked the president for appointing him to this position:

It should be remembered that Petro will be iDressed as President of the Republic this Sunday in an event that will feature numerous international guests, including the King of Spain, Felipe VI, in an event that is expected to be attended by some 100,000 people.
