Due to the success of its first cycle, the second version of the “NESTLÉ Jovenes Baristas” program will be held in August, this time directed by the renowned NESTLÉ barista, Carlos Pérez, which aims to encourage young people to learn about coffee and bring them closer to the world of baristas, recognizing the role they play in the consumer experience and in the development of the category.

The program consists of modules that will be delivered virtually on introduction to the coffee industry, benefits and quality of good coffee, entrepreneurship and employability. In-person sessions of “Barista Foundation” will be held where they will be taught how to taste a coffee, recognize aromas, flavors and other specific attributes. In addition, the different origins, types of roasting, extraction, preparation of a good espresso and the magic of latte art

All program participants will be able to compete for a certification in the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and surprise prizes.

It should be noted that this program has the support of Expo Café Chile and the National Association of Coffee Lovers and Professionals (ANAPAC), whose mission is to improve and increase the consumption of coffee in Chile, covering the entire value chain, from importation from the farms and coffee growers, to the baristas and the final cup.

NESTLÉ Jovenes Baristas is part of the “NESTLÉ Youth Initiative” program that seeks to strengthen youth employability in Chile, through a link between education and the world of work, enabling different young people to learn new tools to achieve their development goals. and growth.

Between 2 and 3 million young people in Latin America and the Caribbean are unemployed, with the lack of job opportunities and the COVID-19 pandemic being one of the main causes.

For this reason, on October 20 and 21, the 7th edition of the Youth Meeting of the Pacific Alliance will be held in Mexico. The event led by NESTLÉ, which will have a hybrid format, will seek to convene more than 200,000 participants with the aim of promoting youth employability and providing tools.
