A man won a millionaire lottery prize after following advice that his late mother always gave him. Robert Cameron, a 53-year-old Scot, told the story after winning the raffle, his case going viral, according to what was reported by the British newspaper Mirror.
The man, who is a father of five, won £3.70 in The National Lottery draw and used his winnings to buy two more tickets. This, after remembering some words that he always told his mother.
“When I checked my ticket the next day, I had won £3.70. I laughed a bit thinking that’s all I’d win, but my mom always used to say, ‘a win leads to a win,’” she recounted.
In that sense, he stated that “she always told us that if you win something, take it and spend it on something else. So I decided to take her advice and use my winnings to buy two tickets for that night’s lottery draw.”
And that night he became the winner of a prize of 1 million pounds sterling, something like a billion Chilean pesos.
“I always check the app and of course the same congratulations message appeared as the day before with my £3.70 win. I was expecting to see something similar and when I first looked I thought it was £1,000,” she stated.
“I was still half asleep so I looked back and thought ‘no, it’s £100,000’. He took a third look at me to realize that he was a millionaire. I even googled the winning numbers to double check,” he said.
Finally, Cameron stated that “I am very grateful that I followed my mother’s advice. I feel that my luck was thanks to her looking down on me.”
