The Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the Directorate for Health Promotion (Promsa), managed to sensitize more than 4,000 inmates of the Miguel Castro Castro and San Juan de Lurigancho penitentiary centers and 1,000 inmates of the Cañete prison about the preventive measures against monkeypox, where they were explained what it is, how it is transmitted and what the symptoms of this disease are.
Likewise, the inmates of the penitentiary establishments accessed different health services such as: screening for HIV, syphilis, discarding and vaccination against covid-19. In addition, masks and condom kits were delivered.
These campaigns are being carried out in an articulated and scheduled manner with the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) and the Diris, Diresa and Geresa with the aim of strengthening prevention actions in these prisons, the goal is to serve the more than 60 penitentiary establishments Nacional level.
In addition, in the coming days the interventions will continue in the prisons of Metropolitan Lima and Callao: San Juan de Lurigancho, Santa Mónica, Virgen de Fátima and the Callao prison. In the same way, it will be held in the Tambo de Mora prison, in Chincha and in the Piura prison (former Río Seco).
The Minsa highlights the hard work that health personnel have been doing to reinforce and promote preventive measures against monkeypox and also the collaboration of the inmates of the penitentiary centers.
