A fire of great magnitude in the industrial zone of Matanzas was reported in the afternoon of this Friday.
The news was confirmed by the state television station TV Yumurí, which posted photographs where an impressive smoke was observed.
“Something caught fire in the industrial zone of Matanzas near the Guiteras thermoelectric plant,” says another post circulating on the Internet.
From the city of Matanzas, a large amount of black smoke was observed over the industrial zone, while emergency teams moved to the scene.
The Breaking Chains page, after an update, detailed that the incident could have occurred in the fuel silos in the port of Matanzas.
This is located near the Thermoelectric Antonio Guiteras. “Supposedly a lightning bolt struck the structure causing the fire,” says this source.
This header caused several comments from Internet users, who were not convinced of the veracity of the information.
“Even the universe is giving us signs”, commented Magos América Sandra Silva, regarding the possibility of lightning.
Another Internet user, Orquidea Avila, wrote “If that is the case, even nature is putting its grain of sand to overthrow the dictatorship… bravo… a ray of freedom… karma does exist… if there is not for the people, for the genocidal government either…”
The local television station in Matanzas cited “unconfirmed versions” that affirm that the fire originated “due to an atmospheric discharge in one of the tanks that stores the national crude oil that serves the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant.”
Recently, the unelected president Miguel Díaz-Canel blamed the economic embargo of the United States for the national energy crisis
Canel said during the recent session of the National Assembly of People’s Power that Cuba has had “bumps in fuel distribution”
“….. and the other element I am going to say in Cuban: It is that we are salty with this energy thing”, the dictator assured the attendees.
