VICE PRESIDENT OF the EU Commission, Maros Sefcovic, stated British plans to scrap giant elements of the  post-Brexit deal on Northern Ireland is “simply unacceptable”.

Coveney stated that “unfortunately what we have is a British Government who is saying ‘sorry that’s not enough, and if you don’t give us everything we’re asking for, well then we’re going to legislate in domestic legislation to override international law’.”

‘No need for drama’

Yesterday, Johnson stated the Good Friday Agreement was extra necessary than the Northern Ireland Protocol as he dismissed ideas of any doable escalatory response from the European Union as “crazy”.

The White House pressured the necessity for talks to proceed to resolve the problems, with a spokesman saying: “The finest path ahead is a realistic one which requires braveness, co-operation and management.

“We urge the parties to continue engaging in dialogue to resolve differences and bring negotiations to a successful conclusion.”
