On this occasion, Lady Gaga had to meet the acclaimed stuffed animal, although it should be noted that not in the best way. It was last Saturday when the world pop star appeared in Toronto, Canada and, although her shows are usually characterized by the eccentricities and imposing sets that accompany the singer, it was Dr. Simi himself who gained prominence by hitting the interpreter of hits like Born This Way either bad-romance in the face.
It didn’t take long for the video to go viral on social media. video of the exact moment in which the little teddy of the iconic doctor hit the face of the Mother Monsterwho despite the mishap, continued his interpretation professionally.
Although a large part of the netizens found it a rather funny moment, many others called the action rude and they even assured that said act could influence Lady Gaga not wanting to return to Mexico or Latin America soon.
“That happens to him for not coming to Mexico, the bad thing is that now if we are vetadisimo”; “They are going to have to send Mr. #MarceloEbrard to solve the problem”; “I fully support the tradition of gifting a Doctor Simi to the artist. But … Why did they have to throw it right in Lady Gaga’s face? Now less is going to come to Mexico ”, were some of the comments from users on social networks.
Although it is unknown if Lady Gaga later raised Dr. Simi’s teddy bear, the situation evoked previous occasions where artists such as Gerard Way, vocalist of My Chemical Romance, had in his hands the iconic mustache and gray hair doctor and for which, without hesitation, confirmed the return of the group to Mexico for the 2022 edition of the acclaimed Corona Capital festival.
However, the group originally from New Jersey have not been the only ones to meet the popular doctor from the Similar Pharmacies, as it has also reached the hands of artists such as Gorillaz, Chvrches, Mac DeMarco, Coldplay, among others.
Dr. Simi has established himself as the most famous doctor in Mexico; although initially it was thought that the iconic character is part of a marketing strategy of the Similar pharmaciesthe reality is that the stuffed animals hide a moving story of hard work behind.
And it is that anyone who lives or has visited Mexico has ever seen outside the aforementioned pharmacies Dr. Simi’s botargas dancing and encouraging people, however, it was not until 2005 that in a factory in Cholula, Puebla, he began to make the iconic stuffed animals that have already become a tradition within national and international concerts.
The Dr Simi doll factory is run by a company that over the years has developed a completely handmade product in the hands of the workers who are dedicated to designing each of its pieces so from the outset, these are unique dolls.
Since its creation in 2005, This company employs approximately 90% of people with some type of disability as part of a program of social and labor integration. Its first 23 employees, the story goes, were 23 young people with intellectual disabilities.
So every time you buy one of these Dr Simi, or every time an artist, even without having the full context, lifts one of these dolls up in the air, is supporting the labor inclusion of people with disabilities.
