This new act of violence involving a medical mission worries the authorities in Tibú, Norte de Santander; who indicated that the victim had entered the medical center hours before after receiving several gunshots to his extremities.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the medical staff authorized the referral of the patient to a higher level hospital in Cúcuta.

However, no one imagined that the gunmen who had seriously injured the man were waiting for him in the Santander neighborhood, outside the hospital, to end his life. It all happened in the early hours of this Friday.

Colonel John Rovert Chavarro, commander of the Norte de Santander Police, explained that some citizens alerted the authorities about multiple shots and the presence of a corpse a few steps from an ambulance. Upon arrival, the uniformed officers found the stretcher empty and a man without vital signs. The paramedics narrated what happened.

“Two subjects made the stop and forced the driver to get off that person who was injured and without saying a word they finalized this subject on public roads. The medical mission was approached by these illegal armed groups that commit crimes in the municipality,” said the colonel.

Although the identity of the victim is not known, it was established that he is a native of Venezuela and lived in Tibú. The body will be transferred to Cúcuta to be analyzed by forensic investigators at the Legal Medicine headquarters.

For its part, the National Army reported that hours later in the same Santander neighborhood, two explosive charges that were installed by armed groups to attack the Public Force were deactivated.
