FILLING Stations all over Ireland are in “chaos” over a flash sale on fuel prices.
Applegreen has slashed the costs of petrol and diesel in stores across the country to celebrate its birthday.

For a total of 2 hours and 47 minutes today until 11.47am, all Applegreen locations reduced the price of a litre of fuel by 24.7 cent.
And as inflation hits the country, people welcomed the temporary change with costs sitting at less than €1.80 for the first time in weeks.
Plenty took to Twitter in awe of the “absolutely insane queues” at some store locations.
One said: “Applegreen in Birr had petrol and diesel for 1.77/8 this morning…absolutely insane queues.”
Another driver added: “Going to be a lot of disappointed people in the queues for Applegreen fuel today.
“I had to take the back road home when I saw the queue on the Clonmel/Dungarvan Road. Didn’t bother queueing, myself, as the tank was almost full.”
A third driver warned people not to bother taking advantage of the sale with traffic causing chaos around plenty of Applegreen stores.
He said: “If you are thinking of popping out and taking advantage of the flash Applegreen fuel sale, think again.

And fuel wasn’t the only major sale item for people to take advantage of.
Applegreen said on Twitter: “It’s our Birthday! Pick up some incredible offers today like Chicken Fillet Rolls for €2.47, Car Washes for €2.47, Slushees for 24c plus a whole lot more!
“We have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT coming soon – so keep an eye on our social media accounts!”
Meanwhile, a major price hike is set to hit Irish households as the European Central Bank has increased its key lending rate.
The decision will hit hundreds of thousands of mortgage holders who are on trackers. The ECB has raised its key lending rate by 0.50 per cent.
Banks are expected to also push up variable rates – but there are no rises in variable rates expected in the coming weeks.
The move is expected to mean that a family with a typical tracker will face an extra €47 a month in repayments, according to Mortgage broker Joey Sheahan. This would mean an extra €567 a year in repayments.
