Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, wife of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard attended as representatives of Mexico the inauguration of Gustavo Petro as president of Colombia and Francia Márquez as vice president.
When presenting the leaders present during the ceremony, which had a massive attendance, a boo was heard for the King of Spain, Felipe VI, but the other leaders were widely applauded, such as Alberto Fernández (Argentina); Luis Arce (Bolivia), Gabriel Boric (Chile); among others.
Dr. Beatriz Gutiérrez was presented by Petro as “Personal Representative” of President López Obrador.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that “Diplomatic relations between our brother peoples are strengthened.”
In social networks, Dr. Beatriz Gutiérrez stated that the president commissioned her to represent him at the ceremony this Sunday:
My president @lopezobrador has commissioned me to represent him at the inauguration of the next president, @gustavopetourrego.
It has been a pleasure to greet Foreign Minister Martha Lucía Ramírez de Rincón again at the airport. I wish her the best in her new tasks and activities.
Greetings to all Mexicans who live in this beautiful country, and may tomorrow be a great day for the people of Colombia.
This Saturday, Petro participated in the “Popular and Spiritual Possession” held in Parque Tercer Milenio, where he received the popular mandate from popular, community, ethnic and social authorities, as well as a representative group of social movements.
In response, Petro promised to recognize organized popular movements as political interlocutors in the framework of his new government.
Despite the differences, a coordination of the popular world must appear in Colombia. A National Popular Assembly that can dialogue with the Government, which begins tomorrow, because we do not want the Government to replace the popular movement.
Petro has thus called on the population to organize themselves in the different sectors and territories “to build the transformations hand in hand with the organizational bases.”
