After a tough battle between his parents and the courts, Archie, the 12-year-old British boy who was in a coma after making a viral challenge, has been disconnected from life support and has died.

“I am the proudest mother in the world, with a wonderful son, who has fought to the end,” Archie’s mother, Hollie Dance, told the media at the door of the hospital where the minor was admitted.

Hollie Dance and Paul Battersbee’s legal battle over the 12-year-old boy, who was found unconscious at his home on April 7 after allegedly participating in a risky viral TikTok challenge, came to an end on Wednesday when the European Court Human Rights, the last entity to which they could resort, ruled that it will not intervene or block the sentences issued by the British courts.

Once the legal resources to prevent their disconnection were exhausted, they went to the Superior Court to request that it authorize their transfer to a palliative care center so that they do not die in the hospital, but a judge not only ruled against the request but also urged the family to let Archie “go in peace”.

The judge rejected the parents’ request for an expert to assess the risks of transferring the minor to a center, which has already offered to receive him if he receives permission, but the doctors maintain that his condition is too fragile. to move it. According to the judge, the best interests of the minor “must remain at the center of any conclusion reached by this court.”
