The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported in a statement that it opened an investigation into possible federal crimes in the Sabinas mine, Coahuila, where 10 miners are still trapped.
In a statement, it reported that “the Mexican Institute of Social Security was requested to report on workers registered in said source of work. Information was requested from the Ministry of Economy on the concession for the exploitation of coal mineral; and, where appropriate, the name of the natural or legal person holding said concession. The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare was required to provide information on inspections that had been carried out in matters of occupational safety, and the same request was also made to the local authorities.” .
It also says that “to the Municipal Civil Protection Directorate, to provide a report on the inspections carried out in the place of reference. To the Undersecretary of Civil Protection of the State of Coahuila, the information on the inspections carried out in said mine. To the Administration Service Tax, the information on the taxpayer registered as the owner or holder of said sinister mining activity”.

The Federal Ministerial Police has also interviewed workers at the damaged well and their families. In these interviews, one of the workers provided substantial information about the concessionaire, the foreman, as well as the owner of the property where the mine is located. Said data must be ratified through the corresponding procedures.
the judicial authorities explained that, additionally, communication has been maintained with the Head of the Investigations Unit of the Public Ministry Agency of the Coahuila State Attorney General’s Office; and verbal communication has been obtained with the Head of the Federal Labor Representation Office, “who has already provided substantial data on the case.”
They pointed out that as information of public interest is obtained that can legally be shared, “it will be done immediately.”

Relatives warn that they will go down to the mine
On Saturday, relatives of the miners issued an ultimatum to the federal and state authorities: if there is no progress in the rescue, one of them will go down to measure the water level and verify the conditions of the mine.
After a meeting with federal and state Civil Protection officials, the relatives claimed slowness in the desilting of water and the delay in the entrance of the team of diversit was determined that if there are no results in the next few hours, a relative with experience in mines will enter.
Santiago Cecilio Moreno Leyva, a relative of two trapped miners, said that “tomorrow [domingo] They’re going to authorize me, because if the divers don’t come down, I’m going to go down. I think the divers are scared or waiting for a depth of five meters.”
