TOWN OF WALLKILL – The Pets Alive animal rescue and shelter organization in the Town of Wallkill will construct a new 12,000-square-foot dog kennel building to replace its deteriorating 50-year-old kennel that has a leaking roof, inadequate space, and crumbling mason work.
The new facility will include heated floors, a community room, an expanded adoption area, more intake, quarantine, and medical evaluation space, 51 dog kennel enclosures, and large garage doors in the kennel area to provide sunlight and fresh air for the animals.
“This new building will open up avenues within our community, e.g., the new community room will provide space for us to offer our community programs at the shelter,” said Pets Alive Executive Director Becky Tegze. “It will also provide a larger, healthier, and safe environment for the dogs – and our staff, visitors and volunteers.”
