IRISH actor Aidan Turner has told how he’s turned his back on the wild lifestyle as the hangovers just aren’t worth it.
The new dad, who welcomed his first child into the world earlier this year with American actress Caitlin Fitzgerald, has traded the “hedonistic lifestyle” for a 9pm bedtime curfew.

Aidan has learned first-hand the ups and downs of parenthood, including having to say goodbye to nights out and endless “sleepless nights”.
The Dublin native, 39, said: “I was chuffed with myself. It was the coolest thing, hanging out with cool actors and going to bars and trying to live this hedonistic lifestyle that the artists were living. And I still had the energy every morning to go to work.
“I don’t go out at all any more. I’ll be home by 9pm or in deep trouble for sure. Hangovers just aren’t worth it these days.
“The sleepless nights are a real thing. There’s a huge shift for sure. I think every man will understand what I mean by that.”
However, the Poldark star is missing his new lifestyle as his newborn jetted off with Caitlin to New York, where she is filming for a new movie.
He said: “It is hard. It’s the first time. She’s only been gone a couple of days. So yeah, it’s difficult, but I’m busy – keeping busy is definitely a good thing for me while they’re away.”
Aidan won a legion of fans as hunky Poldark in the hit period BBC drama.
Thanks to his shirtless field scenes and sexy romps, the actor soon found himself the number-one sex symbol.
However, he looks worlds away from clean-shaven Poldark with his heavy beard – giving him “a veil” in public.
He told The Times: “You do feel quite hidden. There is a veil there. And for me as well. I think maybe one time in 18 months I got recognised with the beard. The day I shaved it off, it happened three or four times in town.
“I don’t hate it. People have only ever been really, really kind, really lovely. And it’s only ever fans. I don’t love it because I’d like to not be noticed and I think a lot of actors too quite enjoy people-watching and observing and that goes out the window if you’re getting recognised. People are locking eyes with you. It just feels unsettling. It feels a bit creepy.”

Aidan will be playing the role of Doctor Joe O’Loughlin, in a brand new series, The Suspect.

As a successful author, Doctor Joe’s opinion is much sought after and when he meets DS Devi he’s only too willing to offer help with profiling and his expertise.
Now known for his risk-taking and rule-breaking, does Doctor Joe have more to hide? His recent diagnosis with a degenerative condition could explain his behaviour.
But as the investigation into the woman’s death gathers pace, we start to ask, do we know the real Joe, or does he have a secret life? And has his work as a clinical psychologist allowed him to develop a criminal mindset? Or worse?
