A settling of accounts is the hypothesis that the authorities handle around the massacre of four people, who appeared at dawn on Friday in a van in Bogotá. The victims of the incident have already been identified and the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, criticized the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec) because one of the murdered men was supposed to be in his custody while serving a sentence under house arrest.

This is Elder José Perosso Zabala, who was presumed to be an escort for Juan Carlos Useche, the former police officer involved in drug trafficking crimes for whom the murderers would have gone.

“(Perosso Zabala) already had a criminal record for possession of weapons. He had been captured by the police, prosecuted by the Prosecutor’s Office and was supposedly serving a custodial sentence in house arrest. Here is a failure of Inpec: they had a prisoner in their custody and they did not make it effective. He was not detained, nor was he serving his sentence,” López detailed.

When questioning Inpec, the mayor assured that “Perosso, evidently, was not at home or serving his sentence”, but rather “continued in criminal activities and ended up murdered in this act”.

The strongest hypothesis is that the massacre was committed by a settling of scores between criminal gangs dedicated to drug trafficking. The mayor also reported that neither the Police nor the Prosecutor’s Office have information that allows them to believe that this crime is related to the criminal organization “Tren de Aragua”.

Also killed in the massacre were Leonardo Sanabria, who apparently also worked as an escort for Juan Carlos Useche, and Leydi Alejandra Betancourtpartner of the uniformed officer, who was found with signs of torture, but does not have a criminal record.

The findings of the bodies, according to the official account, began around 10:15 p.m. this Thursday. The victims were inside black bags, without their identity documents and with their clothing packed in other bags.

The Police, for their part, indicated that 100 investigators were deployed to clarify this massacre and find those responsible. In the investigation they have 150 hours of video from 50 security cameras that will serve as evidence. There’s a 20 million reward for information on the crime.
