There is a fire at the Pratteln BL motorway service area on the A2.
There is a fire at the Windrose service area in Pratteln BL. Numerous reports from reader reporters show two trucks that caught fire on Friday evening and only the scaffolding remained. The Baselland cantonal police confirmed the incident. The fire has now been extinguished, it said shortly before 10 p.m.
When emergency services arrived, the two trucks were already fully engulfed in flames, police said. The fire brigade was on site with a large contingent. The vehicle fire caused a lot of smoke.
A person in the hospital
In the fire, a person suspected of having smoke inhalation was taken to a hospital by paramedics. Three other people were medically examined at the scene, but did not have to be hospitalized. There is also no information on property damage. No one was injured, says the media spokesman for the Basel canton police.
What caused the fire is not yet known. The police are looking for witnesses. The autobahn in the direction of Bern/Lucerne has now been closed. (vof/euc)
