If recent reports are to be believed, South Africa’s first star of The Bachelor SA, Lee Thompson, is allegedly homeless and living on the streets.
On Friday 18 August, You Magazine reported that the former model had been spotted on the streets of Cape Town. This, after he was apparently kicked out from a guest house in the CBD.
Lee Thompson was the star of MNet’s reality TV show The Bachelor SA in 2019. Despite giving his final rose to contestant Gina Myers, the couple split not long after the finale aired.
HOMELESS AND ‘IN TROUBLE’
According to a Cape Town guest house owner — who spoke on condition of anonymity — Lee Thompson was recently evicted from her property after “wrecking” the room.
She told the publication: “He’s not exactly a gentleman with a red rose. The room looked like a pigsty when he left. He’s a man in trouble”.
She added: “It was one big mess. The whole room was strewn with clothes, rubbish, empty drink bottles, and glasses. The kitchen floor was littered and even the furniture was broken. Not to mention the used open condoms lying on the bedroom floor.”
The publication also posted a picture of Lee Thompson reportedly living on the streets in Cape Town’s CBD. In addition, they spoke to a fellow homeless person – a woman named “Whitney” – who claimed she had been in contact with the reality TV star
Whitney reportedly told You Magazine:
“He asked me to show him how things work on the streets because he’s not street-smart.”
The woman added that Lee Thompson now sleeps “under a bridge”.
The South African tried to contact Lee Thompson for comment, but at the time of publishing, he had not returned the call.
WHERE IS LEE THOMPSON?
Adding to the unbelievable “riches to rags” story is the fact that Lee Thompson is still active on his social media accounts.
Two days ago, The Bachelor SA star posted a video of him seemingly “promoting” a winter clothing range from sports shop Sportsman’s Warehouse.
With dishevelled hair and a scruffy beard, Lee is seen “trying on” various clothes at the retailer. “Winter gear = sorted!”, he captioned the clip. Before that, Lee posted various stills from some professional modelling shoots.
But the star’s phone remains off, and it seems even his mother, Desiree Thompson, is unaware of his whereabouts.
She told You Magazine: “Lee informed me he was staying with friends until he’s coming to visit me in two weeks. His brother, Ross, and I will look into his whereabouts.”
FANS ARE ANGRY AND CONCERNED
Following the “exposé”, many fans of Lee Thompson attempted to reach out to him via his Instagram comments. They also slammed the publication for its “intrusive” reporting.
