A lucky few were able to observe the fall of a meteor over Chilean territory on Thursday night.
The sighting occurred in cities like Santiago, Rancagua, Talca and Curico. According to the Chilean Geoscientific Network, it was greenish in color, which would indicate that its chemical composition was predominantly magnesium (Mg). Its size would be 3 to 4 meters.
The surveillance camera of Ledrium, in Farallones, captured the striking phenomenon at 8:54 p.m.. The video shows a flash over the capital, where the meteor finally disintegrated.

The record of Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) it also confirms the entry into the atmosphere of the meteor.
From the Geoscientific Network of Chile they recalled that a meteor “is the term used when an external fragment enters the Earth disintegrating in the atmosphere -commonly known as a shooting star-, while a meteorite is the object that impacts the surface”.
