Luxembourg City officials noted that visitor numbers reached pre-pandemic levels over the long weekend.
Between 12 and 15 August, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) registered 2,649 visitors at its information office on Place Guillaume II. This is 99.96% of the visitor rate recorded in 2019.
The majority of people paying a visit to the Grand Duchy over the long weekend came from France (579), followed by the Netherlands (513), Germany (488), Luxembourg (488), and Belgium (146). The real number is likely much higher, as these figures only include people who visited the tourist office.
460 visitors participated in 23 guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace in the capital. This means the tour was fully booked, which shows the public’s great interest in the exclusive visit. Guided tours of the Palace can still be booked until 31 August.
98 visitors participated in one of the other tours offered by the LCTO, including the City Promenade and the Wenzel Circular Walk. Furthermore, the Office organised 20 tours of the capital with a private guide.
Since reopening for visitors on 5 June this year, the Pétrusse Cassemates tour has drawn a total of 2,803 people, which corresponds to a capacity of 96.48%.
