NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Neighbors in Green Hill have been warning each other to watch out for coyotes after pets have come up dead.
A woman and her family said their dog was attacked and killed by coyotes a few weeks ago and now they are worried this won’t be the last.
Another family on Estes Road said their 10-year-old small poodle was attacked by three coyotes and caught it all on their backyard camera.
“Every morning, my mother lets my two dogs out,” Paris Annabelle said.
Annabelle will watch her mom close their back door and minutes later open it back up to find dogs racing inside.
But on June 28, that didn’t happen.
“10 minutes later, my other dog princess came in but Snowball didn’t” Annabelle explained.
After searching every inch of their back yard, Annabelle’s mom found Snowball’s body between two bushes.
“I just immediately started crying,” Annabelle said.
In home surveillance video, their dog Snowball can be seen running after three coyotes. Seconds later, Snowball was dragged into the trees.
“I didn’t really believe it happened because for so many years we have been letting him out and nothing has ever happened,” Annabelle said.
Annabelle and her mother said they have called 911 and wildlife crews to come out and inspect the area, and officials are telling residents to keep their animals inside and when they do let them out to watch them closely.
“It was just devastating honestly,” Annabelle said.
Scared that this could happen to someone else Annabelle decided to post about the incident online.
“I wanted to post to spread awareness about the coyotes issue because I didn’t want any more people to have to lose their pet that way,” Annabelle said.
Annabelle said before Snowball died, more than four people in the Green Hills area had lost their small pets to coyotes. Now they are just praying and hoping Snowball will be the last.
Annabelle’s family members said they were heartbroken and have been doing anything they can to get the message out to their neighbors
