The Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA) published the reference prices for more than 6,000 car and pickup models for the month of August. The used car market experienced a decline in July in year-on-year terms, although with a considerable rebound compared to the previous month. The accumulated figure for the year, meanwhile, still shows a slight drop compared to the first seven months of 2021.
The Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA) reported that 146,112 used vehicles were sold in Argentina in July, a drop of 1.44% compared to the same month in 2021 (148,253 units).
If we compare it with June 2022 (133,930 vehicles), the increase reaches 9.10%.
In the first seven months of the year, 928,617 units were sold, a drop of 0.22% compared to the same period in 2021 (930,655 vehicles).
“When July began, we did not imagine trading a sales volume of more than 140,000 units, despite ending the month more than 1 point below the same month last year,” said Alberto Príncipe, president of the CCA.
“The volatility of the dollar during the month and the lack of stock in the agencies was the explosive cocktail for sales to drop instead of growing compared to June. But the market surprises us”, mentioned the manager.
“We anxiously await macroeconomic announcements that aim to regularize and give predictability to our companies to start working normally in our activity” (Príncipe)
“We anxiously await macroeconomic announcements that aim to regularize and give predictability to our companies to start working normally in our activity,” said Príncipe.
“The month of July was an atypical month in terms of the sale of used trucks in Argentina. Fundamentally because there were no reference prices and this led to most dealers not selling the units they have in stock”, mentioned Príncipe.
“We also have to say that the lack of original spare parts is very worrying. We have units stopped for more than 30 days,” said the manager.
“In our internal market we are experiencing changes and rearrangements in industry and commerce within the crisis in which we are immersed. We hope that little by little the country will give signs for a more foreseeable future”, he expressed.
