The Oral Criminal Court of Copiapó communicated this Sunday a sentence of triple life sentence, and an additional 20 yearsfor Hugo Pasten Espinoza.
The subject, known as “the psychopath of Copiapó” or “collective psychopath” (he worked as a driver), faced trial since last May for the murder of three women in the regional capital of Atacama: Sussy Montalván, Marina Cabrera and a teenager with initials CAG, who remains missing.

Pasten already had been sentenced in 2005 to 24 years in prison by two crimes of rape and serious injuries against two women. However, he only spent 11 behind bars: released for good behavior in 2017 and, already in the streets, he murdered his three new victims.
In this trial, the Atacama Prosecutor’s Office had requested, precisely, three qualified life sentences.
