Carabineros evicted a group of more than 80 people who violently took over a piece of land in Valle de Lluta in Arica.
A violent takeover of land was recorded at kilometer 5.5 of the sector Lluta Valley in Arica. The subjects were subsequently evicted by Carabineros.
As can be seen in some videos circulating on social networks, a large group of people came to a piece of land and, using stones and sticks, removed the farmers who owned the land.
Given the fact, the presidential delegate of the region of Arica and Parinacota, Ricardo Sanzanasaid that in coordination with Carabineros and the local Prosecutor’s Office, the eviction was activated that put an end to this takeover.
The authority confirmed that the usurpation of the land was violent.
“Carabineros in the place managed to persuade those who were participating as takers, getting them to vacate the place, all of them being warned by the Public Ministry”he indicated.

He also confirmed that 86 people were cited for this fact, while the land was delivered to its owners.
Sanzana recognized that there is concern in the residents and farmers of the Valle de Lluta sector and for this reason, the local government was taking charge of the complaint and the solution from the legal point of view.
In addition, he confirmed that meetings will be held to coordinate actions in order to prevent situations like this from recurring and called for prompt reporting when events like these occur.
“As a government, we are not going to allow these situations to continue to be promoted in our region. (…) For us it is not a normal situation and we will not tolerate it either, ”she said.
“When there is a usurpation of a violent nature, we are going to proceed within the legal framework accordingly,” he added.
