Cuban Cirilo for another medal in the Canoeing World Cup – Up Jobs News

Halifax, Canada, Aug 7.- Cuban Yarisleidis Cirilo will look for her second medal in the World Canoeing Championship today, when she participates in the final of the C-1 at 200 meters in Lake Banook.

Cirilo and Katherin Nuevo won the title of the two-seater canoe at 200 meters on Saturday with a time of 45.09 seconds in a strong dispute with the Chinese duo of Shuai Changwen and Lin Wenjun (45.24), while the Hungarians Bianka Nagy and Giada Bragato got the third position (47.59).

Before, the Antilleans competed in the final A of the C2-500, but they finished in the ninth and last place with a discreet time of 2:09.71 minutes.

In that test, the Chinese Mengya Sun and Shixiao Xu conquered the title with a record of 2:01.26 minutes, escorted by the Ukrainians Anastasiia Chetverikova and Liudmyla Luzan (2:03.32) and the Hungarians Nagy and Bragato (2:04.70).

This year the Caribbean women have already won the C2-200 title at the World Cup in the Czech Republic.

The Olympic champion of Tokyo 2020, the Cuban Serguei Torres and his new partner Tabiani Diéguez were fifth in the final B of the C-2 at 500 meters.

Today Cirilo will also compete in the C-1 at five thousand meters, his compatriot José Ramón Pelier will row in the same modality and Torres in the distance of five thousand, all in A finals. (Text and photo: PL)
