With the aim of continuing to close the vaccination gaps against COVID-19, the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa Piura) and the Project “Support for Covid-19 vaccination in Peru” of the Prism NGOcarried out a Vacunafest in Plazuela Merino, in order to encourage more people from Piura to complete their doses against the coronavirus.
With fun dynamics, games and a clown show, children and adults learned and reinforced their knowledge about prevention measures against coronavirus, as well as the importance of completing the vaccination schedule to avoid suffering from severe forms of the disease. .
“Many people do not get vaccinated because they have wrong information. For this reason, through these playful strategies we seek to combat misinformation and false news and thus ensure that more Piurans come to be vaccinated. The vaccine is safe, effective and, as has been proven, saves lives”said Lucía Seminario Alva, coordinator in Piura of the Project “Support for Covid-19 vaccination in Peru”.
The population is encouraged to go to the various vaccinations arranged by Diresa, not only to be immunized against the coronavirus, but also to access other vaccines such as those that prevent influenza, hepatitis B, pneumococcus and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). which applies to girls between 9 and 13 years old and protects them from cervical cancer.
It should be noted that according to the Single Repository of Health Information (Reunis) of the Minsa, 87.2% of the Piuran population aged 5 years and over has two doses, while third dose coverage reaches 70.2%.
